AVT20 making constant noise
So this has been going on a while with my little AVT20 practice amp, when I turn it on it makes a constant popping sound. It's a weird noise, definitely a "pop" but it repeats itself really quickly, kind of like saying "brrr" while rolling your tongue. I know, it's a crappy explanation of the sound! None of the controls have any effect on the volume or tone of the sound. That's the only sound that will come out of it. I've given it a whack a few times and surprisingly, it does work afterwards on occasion, but it always comes back. I've plugged it in to my 1960A cabinet and it makes the same sound, so it doesn't appear to be a blown speaker. I've reseated the tube a few times but it doesn't seem to do anything. I use the same outlet and power cord as I do with my XXX, and no problems on that amp. Short of trying a tube from my XXX in the AVT20 just to be certain, what else can I try?

Re: AVT20 making constant noise
It sounds like you have a cold solder joint. Try reheating the solder joints on the circuit board. This would fix any cracks in the soldering. This is a common factory defect that can cause problems even after a number of years. Good luck! Tim
