Jim Kelly Amp

Here's a little 50W 'Treble and Bass' amp that I'm fixing up by Jim Kelly, who worked for Selmer Amps in London during the 70's, then he branched out on his own to start Kelly amps.

Nice size of a choke inductor there in the middle don't you think?

Here's the guts, BTW the plate voltage with two new matched EL34 Svets and biased to about 65% is 514V, also the screen grid resistors are 820 ohms.

Check out that 500 ohm wirewound, part of the RC filter, the first in the supply to the caps. cool eh? lol,

Its up and going now and the owner played it at two gig's last weekend and he likes it very much. New valve bases too, plus he's bringing it back soon to have a couple of new PSU caps installed. Plus it will give me a chance to draw up a schematic diagram for it on Multisim as there is none available for this particular amp. should be good.

Actually, I think you mean John Kelly. He made the Kelly amps. Jim Kelley is a different amp guy altogether.

Yea Jim, I meant John, I got the first name mixed up there, getting old and senile here,
I know his son (John's) done a bit too,, Are you the other builder, if so 'nice to hear from you'

Well regardless, nice little amps from John and more than likely, nice amps too from Jim and a pleasure to tinker about with.
