4212 Combo JCM 800 mod ?

Can anybody tell me what this mod is or does? It comes off link 1 to a 1n914 diode. It is comprised of a 1uf electrolytic cap 63v with a resistor in parallel? My guess is that it has something to do with the gain or channel switching?
BTW great forum!!!
