Removing Class 5 grill cloth

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum, and I looked around, but I did not find anything yet.
Is there a way to non-destructively remove the mkI Class 5 combo's grill cloth?
I will use the amp for recording,
and the grill cloth is annoying when it comes to mic placement, imho.
Thanks in advance,
all the best,

you might think of these 'things' to do, but you should also be prepared for nobody to help you! then you might try and educate yourself 'WHY'.

maybe you should have a 'chinaboy' amp, cause you just get a knife with one of those amps and slice that baby right out of there! they're 'great wall' amps mate! we all know if you pay your money you get to 'go through' the great wall.

Hey dreyn77,

Thanks for you replies.
As English is not my first language some of your advice for me is probably lost in translation.
I tried to lever out the front cover with a flat screwdriver,
and it did not come off,
so either I have to be less cautious or it just does not work that way...

If there's no viable and non-destructive way to get rid of that grill cloth I'll happily take an exacto knife to get decent access to the speaker,
but I'd prefer to not have to.

All the best,

Keep the knife away from the amp. Fer chrissake. OK.
The grill is not removable...well not without screwing up your C5. Live with it.

Now,I leave it up to you to decide what you want to do...

If you must, I would recommend making a new baffle and keep the old one intact so you can replace it later. I actually did this and made a new baffle for a 12" speaker back when I was going to convert mine to a head/cab. I soon abandoned the idea and put it back original, but my baffle worked great and wasn't that hard to do.
