Hey man, we were only talking about V1 and V2. Ha, ha. Ampeg V4's are certainly setup different than the average guitar amplifier. I would have thought the V4B to be a little cleaner amp but if they start breaking up at 4+, interesting.
It would make sense to place hotter tubes with the 1k screen resistors. You need to document and keep record of all that if you follow through. I do not know about fragile KT88s. Fom what I have seen the screens are supposed to handle 600V with 6 watt design and 8 watt absolute. The 6L6 types usually have lower value screen resistors. That does help to bring forth upper frequencies with those tubes. |
