Hey man, we were only talking about V1 and V2. Ha, ha. Ampeg V4's are certainly setup different than the average guitar amplifier. I would have thought the V4B to be a little cleaner amp but if they start breaking up at 4+, interesting.

It would make sense to place hotter tubes with the 1k screen resistors. You need to document and keep record of all that if you follow through.

I do not know about fragile KT88s. Fom what I have seen the screens are supposed to handle 600V with 6 watt design and 8 watt absolute.

The 6L6 types usually have lower value screen resistors. That does help to bring forth upper frequencies with those tubes.

All data sheets I have seen for KT88 show specs as you stated as well. I think statements I read are going on the side of caution for sure.

Right now I am trying to think of a way to rig a 1MEG pot onto a 1/4" plug securely. That will be my "plug in" master volume. LOL
