GT EL34m
I've decided to give a pair of these a try in my JTM45.. Am I really going to hear the difference in the 1-3 next to the 4-7 rating ?
Has anyone tried both ? It's pretty easy to get crunchy (I call it) with the JJ E34L at about #4 volume.. |

Re: GT EL34m
I've only tried a quad of #5 and #6. The GT's like to be biased colder than what you'd normally do (both my JJ el34's and e34L's liked it at 38mv per tube while the GT's sounded better at 35-36mv). The 5's got close to the end of the range on the bias pots but, with these 6's, its closer still, with one pot at the very end of the range. I think that's really the difference but, since you have a NMV amp, your experience may be different.
