Question JCM 2000 DSL 100 footswitch question

Hi all. I'm new to these forums, so I hope I'm asking in the right place!

Is it possible to mod the amp so other modes/buttons are footswitchable? For instance, could I souder a 1 1/4" connection to allow a footswitch to change between turning the scoop button or the deep bass button on and off?

Thanks in advance.

Re: JCM 2000 DSL 100 footswitch question

This can be achieved easily enough but make sure to take it to a reputable tech and have it done properly.
No offence intended but if you don't know how to wire it up already then you do not have enough experience to do this yourself.
Also think carfeully of whether you really want it, people in the 70s and 80s had no problem butchering their JMP/JCM for various mods but I'll bet they wished they had left them stock now with the current re sale value of a stock unit.
Having said that, my attitude is that if you have an amp and intend keeping it then why not have it exactly as you want it?

Oh, and welcome to the forum!!

FJA offers a mod to make the Ultra setting on the red channel foot switchable, I'm sure they could do likewise with the deep, mid shift, or clean/crunch on the green channel:

Marshall

Having said that... my DSL 100 is modded by Voodoo (Deluxe) & they refused to do that same mod when I asked - said there just wasn't enough room to do it safely without risking damaging the amp.

Thanks for the info. It isn't actually for me, but for the other guitarist in our band. He's pretty comfortable getting inside his gear and he asked me to check and see if it could be done. He doesn't have any qualms about chopping it up, he's done it to all of his amps. By chance would you or anyone else know where I could get a wiring diagram/schematic?

Or if not a wiring diagram maybe a how-to guide on modding?

I had talked to FJA about the mod in the past, but the more I try that boost button, the less I like it. It gets all woofy and muddies up the tone. It isnt too bad when the gain is WAY down. I don't honestly know if it would be worth it if you are using a Tube Screamer or something else slamming the front end that is switchable.
