We'll start with the smart a$$ed response: Turn down your amp. That sound you hear is tinnitus.

Seriously it takes a lot of practice. I can get them playing acoustically. Did you change your guitar lately? Longer or shorter scale? They'll be in different places. Assuming you know how to hold your plectrum for these, just crank up the gain (it's easier at first), and use the D string and practice your technique. Then it gets worse -- go to the G then B then E' string. Then back off the gain and try to get them playing clean -- they'll be very faint.

Re: DSL 100 Articifial Harmonics/ settings

I don't have a problem with pinch or any kind of harmonics with my Marshall's including the DSL100 which I have also.

What kind of strings and pickups, specifically are you using?

Stock tubes are what's still in my DSL100 at the house and I have JJ's in the club rig and they both scream whenever I want.

You might want to think about a tube change maybe....something's not right.

Re: DSL 100 Articifial Harmonics/ settings

Speakers would make a difference for sure but I've not tried MG30's and honestly, I'm not certain what how they would affect harmonics but it's interesting what you noticed for yourself.

Re: DSL 100 Articifial Harmonics/ settings

Strings.... yikes. Yah, I'm pretty bad about this. I was testing out some new recording gear and was laying down a track with my JVM on OD1 Green using my "JCM 800 2203" setting for some '80s Heavy Metal. I was having a lot of trouble with the pinches. They were still there but were a lot fainter than I was used to hearing. So I tweaked the hell out of the amp made the recording anyway, and it worked. Not as well as i'd like them to but they were there. I had to work harder at it.

Then yesterday (one day later) I picked up the same axe and was running my fingers down the wound strings while I was on the phone. I noticed that where I pick I had worn them smooth. then I realized they were about three months old. DOH! Changed them and it was back to normal. I wish I'd made the recording yesterday. Oh well, I can still re-record the solo.

If you're still having trouble after your speaker change, and have sufficient gain, try a tubescreamer.
