Help with bias question DSL 50

Ok so I was checking the tubes in my DSL 50 Last night, I was attempting to check the bias, and I noticed that the left tube writing was gray instead of red? I didnt tube this amp so I wouldnt know whether it was red or gray before.. now the tube is glowing.. but I could not get a reading at all on my meter. is this tube toast? or could it be something else? the right tube gives me a reading. and I set the bias of it to 45, it is buzzing a bit though.
