I have a Marshall MG100HDFX Special Edition Red. (really nice amp). It's a solid state amplifier and I had some power issues with my house. The power surged i guess and fried the IC chip (Part number TDA 7293)(the IC chip is the little thing that is hooked up to the CPU fan and basically runs the speakers) and the little chip board that it is soldered into. Well I went online and bought the little IC chip, re-installed it, correctly might I add, and I hooked it back up to the amp, hoping that it would work. Well smoke started pouring out of not only the IC chip, but also the chip board on which it is soldered. Now i know that it is this part specifically because for one, it is the only thing that is smoking, and for two, the amp doesn't smoke or short out when i don't have the chip board plugged in, the amp works fine except for the fact that it puts out no sound because of that stupid little chip. Now, what i need to know is, is where i could go to get the little board with the cables and IC chip and everything all there? Because i really miss me marshall and i'm stuck with my peavey blazer50, which only works part-time cuz the solder on the inputs keep busting. But if someone could please help me to find that little board for my marshall mg100hdfx, i would appreciate it very much. Thanks.

Re: Fried Marshall MG100HDFX. PLEASE HELP!!!
I've read on amps and have had personal experience on computers that sometimes when a part of a board blows it can send conductive material around the blast radius. Thus the entire board may need replacing.

Re: Fried Marshall MG100HDFX. PLEASE HELP!!!
I would say the chip was subsequentially damaged, by whatever component took the main hit, thats why the new one fried as soon as you installed it. You verly likely need a new board. But Id also be weary of the power supply as well.
One part of your post gave me a little chuckle: "the amp works fine except for the fact that it puts out no sound" But Im gonna go on the assumption you were not joking, and say that until you get some sound out of it, how do you know it's fine? The power light & fan may be on, but you might have a hum, static, poor tone, blown effects (if any), etc. All of these could also be secondary damage. If you love the amp, maybe take it to a shop, although the bench labor & parts mark-up might be expensive. How much does a new MG100 go for nowadays $400? |

yeah it it has the same hum as if it were working fine, but because the IC isn't in there or working, it puts out no sound of me playin. All I need is to know where i can buy the IC board with the IC board and all the transistors and the bound wires that connect the chip to the motherboard.

Re: Fried Marshall MG100HDFX. PLEASE HELP!!!
the electronic hum of it being on, not the standard sound hum of the pickups catching random noise. All i need is to know where i can get that one part!! It's killin me not havin it and have to punch my peavey every five minutes because of the bad solder-connections which i've fixed like fifty times.

From the schematics It looks like theres only the IC and a few caps on that board
ampix - Enzo schematics I assume from your first post that the cables are fried? |
