begining a 200W marshall major tube amp project
I'm soon to start a pair of 200W Marshall Majors using the 67/68/78 schematic.
Not to many time tested designs out there using 4 kt-88's. Was wondering if there are any sites where upgrades or mods to this circut can be found. Would rather incorporate during the build phase than build stock, and later upgrade or modify. Since the design is over 30 years old, and I'm doing this for my personal use, I hope there's no problem discussing here. I do have other Marshall gear, a pair of 9200's, a 9100, an el20/20. I can post the schematic's if it will help guide some ideas, assuming there's no issue with doing so. |

best of luck w your project. You may know about this excellent site, tons of Marshall history AND schematics:
Marshall Amps Info & Schematics so you are using 2 - 100w transformers? dual 100w outputs? Where you gonna use them? Can I play with you? I'll bring my 1969 Major for comparison... really.... can I play with you? Mark Boston, MA USA |

"so you are using 2 - 100w transformers? dual 100w outputs?"
The donor parts are out of a pair of Dynaco Mark 6's. The Mark 6 was a commercial grade 120 WPC amp with oversized power transformers and oversized optput transformers. They are considered under utilized in a 120WPC amp. Not sure if they will handle 200WPC, but it will be close. |
