JCM 800 Chassis Screws?

Does anyone here know the thread count/type of screws that are used on the JCM 800 Heads?

I have a JCM 800 (2203) from 1983 that I just picked up, it's missing 2 of the 4 chassis screws. Does anyone here know that exact thread count?

I'd hate to cross thread or mess with the existing threading on the chassis...

Thanks.

Re: JCM 800 Chassis Screws?

Take one that you have out of the head and roll over to a hardware store with a good selection of bolts/screws....if you're in the US, try an ACE Hardware. I got some for my combo there.

When you go in, they should have a thread gauge you can use on the bolt to see what it is. IIRC they should all be machine threading, not coarse. Once you have thread and width, match the length and finish, and if they're the flathead bolts they should have that style too. Cheap fix, works perfect. Hope that helps.

I bought some today for my 2204. They are #6 by 30mm.

Yeah, M6 x 30mm cheese head screws.

I ended up getting plain zinc-coated steel screws, but my Ace has a metric stainless and metric chrome section that was very tempting.

I grabbed some longer, stainless ones to use on my bench setup to lag the head with:

The chrome ones are enticing, aren't they? I might get a few to dress up my amp!

Re: JCM 800 Chassis Screws?

Hi guys, I just bought a JCM 800 2203 that was a little beaten up and it's missing all the screws to hold on the back metal grill.

Is #6 by 30mm what I need to pick up??

Thanks!

Back metal grille? Those would just be a wood screw.

I always put a small amount of grease on them so they aren't completely metal to metal, it'll be easier to take them out if you ever need to.

Especially if you ever decide to use stainless, you'll need to since the nut will most likely not be stainless. Some metals react badly against stainless and could actually lock them in and be really hard to take out.
