Re: The tell us your equipment thread

All of my gear is in my sig. I really love the amp, cab and pedal. I am honestly not too crazy about either of my guitars although they work fine for now. Soon though I will have the Kramer baretta of my dreams though and it will all be good. Sorry for bad quality but I only had my phone camera. Here is my Marshall + Les Paul, and Marshall + Charvel.

The Charvel is a great guitar and the only problem I have with it is that it will just not stay in tune. I LOVE les paul's too but I just dont like epi's that much as they just dont have near the quality of a Gibson, other than that they are okay guitars though...but that amp is just top quality and I would not trade it for any other in the world.

Re: The tell us your equipment thread

I've got a black '89 LP Custom with an Angus pickup in the bridge and a DiMarzio in the neck. I play thru a 50w JCM 900 2500 mkIII and a 1960 BV cab. Sometimes I use a Power Brake. That's it. The only other thing on my rig is a cold brew.

I completely forgot about my Charvel. Which I sold regretably. It was just a beater but played great and stayed in tune. Wish I had it back...

I have to agree on both sides... David Gilmore, I would assume, knows how to use those effects properly. As do many, many working musicians. The kid on the street with a cheap combo thinks buying scads of pedals, instead of starting out with the right amp, will help his sound... You have to remember "most" the pedal manufacturers are aiming for that kid who thinks pedals will "do it" for him... Cheaper than spending money on the right equipment... If you know how to use them, do it. If you're trying to get the pedals to be your "amp", rethink the process...

Just my own humble opinion...
I respect your opinion my friend. Your sound is YOUR sound, and I would never try to tell you that it could be better.........pure and simply because I've never heard your sound. Not only have I never heard it, but I don't have the first idea of the sound you're trying to achieve. And that was my point................................ How can it be possible for someone to tell you that he can make your sound better by using fewer pedals? That staement smacks of arrogance, and it's something I would never ever say. I don't care if you use a plethora of multi effects, or use as little as just a volume pedal.....I have absolutely no right to tell you that my way is better. Because it's not. And the reason it's not is that my sound is different to yours, and my ears are different to yours, and I most likely play differently to you. So what I'm trying to say is we are all individual, and to make a stupid assumption across the board like some people do is just amateur to say the least.
My sound is the best in the world, and I really mean that. You may not like it, but I think it's brilliant.

1 thing I will say though is that DG does not know how to use these pedals any better than you or I.......................... he just has the opportunity to experiment more, as he doesn't need to go and sell cars, or lay bricks, or put fires out etc....... for a living. He just plays guitar and gets great tone.

Thanks ya it actually came with the gibson p-94 pickups in it stock. They have an amazing sound. The neck is actually fairly fast. It has a smaller profile than my les paul but still easy to play, and i have managed to get the action quite low on it without buzzing. It really is a jem to play and hear.

Well, here's my little slice of Heaven: I have a Fender American Standard (not sure which year), An Epiphone Sheraton II, Martin Backpacker (which by the way, made it through a combat tour in Afghanistan), Johnson Mandolin, Some no-name Banjo a friend gave me, Fender Vibro Champ and a Marshall MG250 DFX.

Also in the bag is a Dunlop Univibe and in front of the amp is a Slash Model Wah

Re: The tell us your equipment thread

When no one is home i use a 59ri thru a 1960av
when rehearsing and live i use a DSL 100 with an MM ot and choke thru a 1960av the pre out to a Digitech 2101le into a Marshall 8280 for fx with a Peavey Midipro for channel swithing and a Digiteh RP20 for a foot controller only
when i run this rig at home it goes to a Crate bv cab with a pair of gt75's and a pair of seventy/80's
guitars are built by me as i could never find exactly what i wanted from a production guitar

Model 1's only have maple fretboards though, and unless it was modded, it would not have a locking tremelo, just a standard vibrato.

No Fear Factor, every time I see your gear I contemplate being able to take it out on a test drive. That's some serious shit.

For me, I run a Whirly Bird 1000 going into a Dread Shredder OD and then into a Magic Prophet Distortion pedal and I have an Octo Boost for love songs.

Gee, that sounds pretty good for just making it up.

In reality, I have several tube distortion devices that I use and I have a collection of about 20 stomp boxes. I also have an old DigiTech RP12 and a New Digitech RP1000. I'm starting to experiment more with modeling effects.

Hey Marty,PM your #s and the times when I'm passing thru KC between Tulsa and Des Moines I can give you a holler. I have good friends in Independance who are always after me to come spend some time with them. When I find the time to do it maybe we can hook up for a little jammin. We usually just go to some dive in Independance and get all drunked up when I'm in town with them. When I bring the ball&chain she likes to go downtown and eat and shop.

Re: The tell us your equipment thread

Guitars:
-Fender Strat (60's classic player custom job thingy) with some pickups from a 1979 25th anniversary strat

-Epiphone Les Paul Custom (Black Beauty, with the 3 pickups. Not usually a fan of Epi's but this one is pretty damn good, shame my sweat has stripped the gold in the 5 years i've had it)

-Tanglewood12-string acoustic (pretty nice, doesn't get much of a look-in recently)

Effects:
-Blackstar HT-Dual (valve powered boost/distortion, the only one i really use, and usually just the boost channel)

-Boss DS-1 (sounds great in a horrible kinda way, but it's old and worn and abused, needs a repair)

-Morley Bad Horsie Wah (never use this anymore, it's on its last legs)

-Marshall BB-2 and Regenerator

-EHX Stereo Pulsar (really versatile trem, really enjoy it)

-MXR Phase 90 (possibly the best effect i've ever played?)

Amps:
-Marshall JMP Mk2 50w combo from 1979 (I love it, truly love it)

-SoundCity Mark6 SC40 (nice sounding, soldered with cheese. It's broken more times than it's worked, real shame)

-Solid State 'Little Giant' (some strange little '70s tremolo amp i got on eBay for less than £30. Sounds great! Especially for bass)

Other Gear:
-Got an sm58 lying about and another dynamic that i use in the studio for snares

-Focusrite Saffire interface (great preamps, but weird software that goes with it)

-Logic 8 or ProTools LE8 for recording
