Best Pedal for JMP?

Okay, so after having procured a 1960b JCM900 cab to compliment my 1971 JMP, I am in the market for a new pedal, as my Zomm G2 is not doing the business as, well, its pretty gash. So I'm looking for a pedal to compliment my rig.

I've been looking about and assumed that the Marshall pedals would do the biz, but after being initially enthusiastic about the Guv'nor and Jackhammer pedals, I read some reviews on Harmony Central that were less than complimentary to say the least. I know it will vary from setup to setup but obviously with a rig like this I want to get the best tone out of it I possibly can, and a digital all in one box like the one I have at the moment is a no go as I'm told it scrambles and ruins the signal before its even got to the amp.

Have also been looking at the Boss DS-1 and the Metalzone box. Can anyone approve any of teh above or recommend something better? FYI I play rhythm in a metal/punk/grunge style so often need a lot of distortion, good bass response and plenty of crunch.

Any help as always is massively appreciated from you fine folks.

Get a Keeley Baked TS-9. Should have plenty of overdrive with a nice clean response throughout the spectrum. I use the non-baked TS-808 as I don't want/need that much overdrive, and it's a wonderful pedal.

Re: Best Pedal for JMP?

i agree with frankie on a overdrive type pedal , but i would check into a pedal from
Indie guitarist site wampler pedals , he's got some great sounding pedals , at least
from the video clips anyway . i have personaly not played or heard any , but he has
some big name players using his stuff .

if budget is going to play a role in this then , try a modded BOSS SD-1 or a FULLTONE OCD. these are two great pedals for boosting a good tube amp like yours .

Re: Best Pedal for JMP?

Got an original crybaby somewhere, don't imagine thats likely to boost the distortion/crunch much though?

How or where do I go about hearing, or having it done, a modified TS-9...?

Re: Best Pedal for JMP?

i do great mods on those pedals , but thats along way to send a pedal IMO !!
check around your city , there must be a good local mod guy who can do this
stuff , or send it to STEELHORSE's pal at GARMOPATMODS , i have heard good
things about his work from steelhorse !!!

do it !!! when done right , they will blow away a stock TS-9 !!!!! It will work great
infront of most of the amps you have listed !!!
