Re: MXR Distortion III
Hi Siav,
I haven't tired it yet personally, but I saw a video of it on Utube. It seems very similar to the Fulltone OCD in character, "I just ordered an OCD today" wish I would have seen your post earlier.

Re: MXR Distortion III
Hi,
I have a bunch of OD pedals. I have an Boss SD-1; MXR ZW ; Ibanez Tubescreamer and an MXR Distortion III When I tested the Distortion III, I was suprised it doen't have a lot of distortion...haha But I use it as an OD pedal, Level at 8, Distortion at 2 and tone at 5.... in front of my JCM800 and it does the job real well for metal/heavy rock I change my OD pedals from time to time that's been a while cause teh Distortion III sounds best for me.

Re: MXR Distortion III
I have an OCD and I picked up that MXR pedal in hopes that it'd displace the OCD so I could sell it and fund more pedal purchases, but it was no contest at all. To my ears, the OCD adds to the signal where as the MXR just kind of added noise on top of the signal, if that makes sense.

Re: MXR Distortion III
The distortion III works great on non master volume amps. I used one for a while with a 1987x and a les paul and it was really balls to the wall and sounded great. But with master volume amps, it just tends to add noise. I agree with kcwm that the OCD is a better pedal...if anything for it's versatility.

![]() I didnt tried this pedal with high volume but when setting the level above 8 on the pedal, it gets really noisy. I use it on the crunch channel on a 6101 and sounds really great!

Re: MXR Distortion III
I found that it cuts some of your mid to bass frequencies/tone regardless of where you set the tone control on the pedal. Its noticable when you strum a chord slowly with and without the pedal switched on.
I didn't like it with the distortion less than 12 o'clock but above that to my ears it sounded nice with plenty of added sustain without fizz. Having said all that I'm using it with a Vox ADT50 (using AC30 model) to add more balls to some solo lines. I haven't tried it with my SLX yet cos I lent that to the other guitarist to use for a few weeks.
