Instead of reverb I use a short delay, which adds some room to the sound.

Delay rather than reverb here too. I either use an old, crappy but fun DOD FX-90 or an Echoplex from the mid 70's.

Wow,

You have an Echoplex! Awesome! Is it the solid state version?

Man, I'd love to have one of those... probably run it through my Fender though. I use a Boss DD-2 for my Marshalls echo.

I was thinking of adding reverb to to my Marshall though. I was thinking of getting one of those Fender reverb units. I thought that would sound pretty sweet in addition to my DD-2.

Yep, it's the solid state version, the EP-3. I've been in need of a band for a year now so it hasn't seen much use, plus tapes are rather hard to find so I'm limiting myself, but it's really cool, just need some TLC!

Replacement Tape

Hi,

Can't you get replacement tape from Fulltone or Dunlop? I thought they sold those type of things.

Well, it's still awesome to own I'm sure. I'm saving my pennies for Fulltone's version of the solid state Echoplex that he's thinking of making.

Well, take care!

Yes, you can get tapes from Dunlop but I've heard their delivery time was kinda weird, plus I live overseas. I didn't know about Fulltone though, don't know if they use the same kind of tape. Ebay sounds more like an option to me or you can get 8-track tapes for less and rewind them your self.

Are you talking about the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo? I think Keith Richards uses one of those. They're a little bit pricey IMO, but if you can afford it it'll spare you the cleaning and fixing you have to do on a 70's (or earlier) Echoplex! Most of them are dirty and need a good cleaning or change now hard to find parts.
