Anyone push a Vavlestate 8080 with an OD pedal?
I was wondering if it's worth while to put an overdrive pedal in front of a Valvestate 8080 on it's dirty(od2) channel. Has anyone done this, and if so, which pedal did you use? I'm thinking it might be a nice way to get some more sustain out of the amp without going to a distortion pedal or a compressor pedal. I'd like to avoid a dedicated distortion pedal simply because I don't want to replace the distortion sound from this amp's od2 channel, only enhance it or push it harder. The compressor pedals are a nice option, but, if I can get more sustain and have the ability to push the current sound out of the od2 channel, I'd rather do that. I just wonder how it would work with a Valvestate and it's single preamp tube. Any thoughts, recommendations, or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Anyone push a Vavlestate 8080 with an OD pedal?
I have a Digitech RP7 (yeah old) in the FX loop. I use it for the chorus and reverb effects. But to boost the OD2 on the VS, I use the OD on the RP7. I have to tweak it so it won't color the sound. It works fine.
So, I suggest an OD pedal and use the volume only. |
