Will the YJM get this tone?

For my personal enjoyment.... not in a tribute band or anything but I'm looking for that raw, in your face tone that Marc Diglio had on the album Hungry. I've read that he used an ADA MP-1 but I'm not interested in a rack set up.

Most of the sound samples I've heard from the YJM are not quite like this but I've never had an opportunity to play around with one personally. Hell, I've never even seen one in person.

Re: Will the YJM get this tone?

Verry lovely sound is that. and a nice song aswell, listened to it sooo much.
Indeed he uses a ADA MP-1 (which is a verry cool preamp, owned one for a while).
I think it can be done with YJM marshall. The ADA is excually a amp with two gain controls. One is the amp gain and the other is sort of infront boost control.

A friend of me got this kind of sound out of his Peavey 5150I, sounded verry nice.

The YJM could probably get this tone if you get the right tubes and spend some good time EQing it, but I think this sounds more like a JMP 2203/2204 or a JCM 800

Thank you. I was thinking this was 2203 territory as well. I just can't crank one of those like they were intended. Eventually I'll just have to spend some cash on a re-amp set up.

You have to crank the **** out of it. If you listen to xyz you can hear (especially on the low notes) that the amp is dimed, cause you get some kind of speaker distortion.

Yep! That's why I was thinking YJM. Dime it then scale it back to this side of the pain threshold. I'll figure something out.

Re: Will the YJM get this tone?

scaling it back ain't gonna work. You won't get speaker distortion then. It's excually a overdriven speaker, and in the lows this will make the speaker go wroap wroap. Thats a lovely sound, but you only get that with diming your amp. To record that kind o things an isolation cab can be a good thing haha.

Yeah you wont be able to get the speaker distortion at lower EPA levels but still nice tones. The louder the EPA is, the better it sounds. Just like any other Marshall, the louder you crank it, the better it sounds
