I just purchased a new pedal.... Need some help!!

I bought an MXR Carbon Copy.... Again

I'm using a new rig so pedals might sound sweet coming up the front (no fx loop), old school style! I really need you all to help me with a boost pedal, I'm 80 percent sold on an ibanez Tube screamer!

Sell me a damn OD pedal quick! I have over 100 bucks! Help me out!!!

Had one a while back. Cool pedal, didn't need it at the time, but now it is perfect for my set up...

Re: I just purchased a new pedal.... Need some help!!

I just picked up a mxr bad ass '78 distortion pedal. It is pretty cool. What amp you using? I have found that if you are just using the ts-9 for boost then a GE7 will sound nearly identical in front of my mkiii. I bought the mxr because I wanted some more edge for Judas Priest and Velvet Revolver songs, and the ts9 and ge7 did not give me the edge I wanted for those. My mij ds-1 does, but only sounds good in front of the mkiii. Hopefully the mxr will fill in the gaps with the other amps.

Re: I just purchased a new pedal.... Need some help!!

if there is one thing i hate, its delay in the front end. ....the loop sound 10000000000 times better. But i was in the same boat as you lately,....i snaged an orig 1982 2203...yummy indeed, but no loop.

I went in GC and tried every delay they had in the front end of it and the MXR, i thought, sounded the best of all.... and i did try em all.

I've giged out with that rig a few times now and it works pretty well,.... im still debating on adding a loop tho

That's actually encouraging, thanks friend!

I put a dd-3 in front of the TT already sounded useable, so I figured my favorite delay would be ??better??, hope I'm right

I'm getting my TT modded though, so it'll be cool.

MXR Ten Band EQ. Highly versatile. You can use it in front of your amp in the same way as an overdrive (only much more versatile) or in your affects loop to boost/cut and create alternate lead tones. Say for example as a mid booster, which kicks ass for your solos to cut through a mix

And yes. Delay sounds terrible in front of the amp.

I think with the older delays, and the analogs in general, you can get by with running them into the front of the amp because back when they were designed that is how most everyone used them. The newer pedals seem to be designed for the loop, however, so they work accordingly.

Off topic, but another great analog (short, 300ms max.) delay that works great in front of the amp, better than in the loop actually, is the way huge aqua puss RI.

What kind of boost are you exactly looking for? Transparent, mid hump & bass and treble cut, bassy sounding boost etc...?

My early original dd-3 is uncontrolable in front of the amp.

Re: I just purchased a new pedal.... Need some help!!

My DD-3 sounds decent in front of my 4104 until I boost it. Then things get a little insane. I just run the level and the feedback pretty low.

Anyway, I use a MXR 10 band for boost. It cuts through reallly well.

Honestly, I don't know lol...

I'm about to find out if I can rock a ts-808 clone...

I found the dd-3 to be usable but not what I needed in front of my TT. I'm confident that I'll be able to use the CC up in front with no problems. Also, I'm sure I can make it sound amazing... I'm going to focus on using what's there and not how it would sound with a loop..

Re: I just purchased a new pedal.... Need some help!!

Wow!!!

I got my 808 clone today, and I used it for practice also!!!

MOTHER ****ING WOW!!! It took my tone to the next ****ing level. I used it with my Tiny Terror and my American tele'. ****ing just what I needed. Now I got that extra push I need to use my tele' for basically whenever I want, any song.

I played Whole Lotta Love, and Iron Man with my Tele'! ****ing sounded enormous!! Basically now I could use my lp and my tele for different songs, and I won't have to worry about having enough gain with my tele'.

With my JVM, I didn't need a boost, but the Tiny Terror does. I get my Carbon Copy tomorrow, so I'll let you all know how that goes!!!

The BEST pedal I have found when you have to go through the front end is the Marshall 1W set for 0.1w > Delay > Amp input. Unfortunately, that's a $650-$800 pedal.

Congrats on the new pedal! Any other pedals you consider buying? (chorus/leslie sim, tuner, langer, phaser, digital delay, different type of boost, verb etc...) i'd like to hear some clips of You using the new 808 clone.

Re: I just purchased a new pedal.... Need some help!!

I'll have clips up soon! I just need the boost and delay, I dont even need the delay to be honest but I really miss it. The only other pedal I would get is the MXR analog chorus pedal. That pedal is by far the greatest chorus pedal I have ever used, it's just the smoothest chorus you can find period. In many many years from now the MXR analog chorus pedal will be holy grail. I'll stand by that statement,

I just got my tung-sol preamp tube today too, man I'm having an excellent month...

With the purchase of my thc chorus my awsome three months ended. Damn those months were awsome. Replaced all pedals on my board (+-12 pedals) and more.
Have you tried the thc chorus?

That one sounds really great! The amp sounds good too! I think one of the reasons I really like the MXR ac is because the functionality and PRICE. Basically good price for an amazing pedal. That thc sounds really nice though..
