The "Sound" Of the Schaffer-Vega Diversity: Classic Rock "Rock Stars"

What is the Schaffer-Vega Diversity:

Quote:
The Schaffer-Vega Diversity System (“SVDS”) was the first cordless guitar and microphone system to be adopted by major rock acts. The freedom of movement wireless provided paved the way for arena-sized bands to tour with large multi-level stages. Schaffer-Vegas were employed by major rock bands, including The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Kiss, The Grateful Dead, Peter Frampton, Aerosmith, Earth, Wind & Fire, Black Sabbath and Van Halen.

The Schaffer-Vega wireless guitar system was introduced by The Ken Schaffer Group, Inc. of New York in June 1976. A handheld microphone version was introduced in 1977. What made the Schaffer-Vega system unique was its approach to solving each of the problems common to previous wireless systems and which limited their use in professional staging and production.

Use in the recording studio

Although its design objective was to create a wireless system that was transparent - invisible - compared to a cord, artists such as Rick Derringer and Angus Young of AC/DC, chose to use their SVDS units in the recording studio to avail of barely-perceptible alterations the system made to the sound that they, in fact, found preferable. The slight coloration added by the Schaffer-Vega is considered to be an essential part of Angus Young's guitar tone[7] on such songs (and albums) as Back in Black, the third highest selling record of all time.

Some Bands that USED the SVDS Live and in The Studio:

AC/DC
Aerosmith
America
Bay City Rollers
Beach Boys
Billy Joel

Love & Happiness,

Fil

I hope it all goes well Fil. I like how they boost the signal and retain the quality of the guitar/amp sound.

Keep us posted.

Peace

Thanks bro

It actually not only retains all of it, but it "adds" good stuff to it, thanks to the built in compressor and clean boost.
Using it on different amps will make different sounds, but still with the bold characteristic of adding "balls" to the sound, clean or driven.

This is really why I love these units and why I decided to go on and replicate them.

It's all I even wanted and can't imagine someone not wanting one, but really

This is really cool. It could be one of the worlds most universal pedals, everyone should have one.

Are they going to be available in the UK ?
I'm not one for pedals generally, but this is one I would consider.

Thanks mate. It will be available worldwide.

I never used pedals, always straight into the amp since I started.
But uncovering this unit changed my life. Not only my guitar playing life, but even my personal life, becoming friends with - for example - Mr. Ken Schaffer in person, who is one of the coolest individuals ever.
He's been friends of Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and the like (yes, even Angus Young).
