Lava, Bullet or Vox coily cables?
Ello
![]() I'm searching for a new coily cable. Which of them are made with the best materials, Lava, Bullet or Vox? I think I will go for Bullet cable (think GMD), but first I need your advise... ![]() (because not every shop has them all) |

BULLET!!! I own one, because of gearmandude, and it's great, they're just as good as monster cables.

Coily cables are awesome. I hear that add 20.4378286% more awesomeness to your guitar tone by using them.
Bullet should be fine.

Re: Lava, Bullet or Vox coily cables?
what's the purpose of coily cables, besides being 2-3x longer and inserting extra cable capacitance to tame your highs?

Re: Lava, Bullet or Vox coily cables?
I have a VOX cable in blue and when I play women literally take their clothes off...
...well not they don't. I have all sorts of cables and I'll be dammed if I can hear the difference. I just thought they looked cool to be honest. Also the coil cable does not get tangled at my feet. All my other cables do tangle so the VOX coil one is my main link to the pedalboard. I use regular cables from the pedals to the amps.Of the two vox cables one works and the other is a bit dodgy...so I only use the one. Can't say much about the reliability with that. I always end up replacing the plugs anyway. -Hillcountry

![]() To be fair in an answer, we purchased Vox and Lava and performed a series of tests (listening, construction, and physical comparisons). The cables, if viewed on line, would appear to be very similar, but we found that they are not the same. We have written a review of the physical differences. We hope that the results will answer some of the debate. If anything, cable is personal (or should be). We are happy to answer any questions. Re: Lava, Bullet or Vox coily cables?
Why I use Lava
Made in USA, Bullet are made in Hong Kong, and Vox are made in China The guy building them is retired speacial forces from Afghanistan. To me I support all our troops and there after service endeavours. and last but not least Tony is a great guy and when you call you get one of the guys that can give you answers. They also do custom stuff. Just to many pluses.

Re: Lava, Bullet or Vox coily cables?
I have been thinking about this too, thanks someone made a thread about it.
All in all, I think it's a matter of preference. I knew about Vox and Bullet, but never heard of Lava. I check the 3 of them again and in my opinion Vox coild are nicer looking to me. So +1 to the Vox. |

Re: Lava, Bullet or Vox coily cables?
well, to get started go wired not wireless(sorry radio shack lovers) i personally like long coily cables but for my use are not practical since my guitars have rather dark tones.
imho a good cable does a good job, now an expensive cable does an expensive job...say if you were to record at abbey road. iv learned at school that an expensive cable only helps in demanding situations for example if you are recording, if you are near power strips, if there is static, but only helps slightly. so to finish off i would say go for the one you like, its almost the same sound besides if you can perceive a difference then your probably a dog, i would just consider quality. |
