Palmer PDI-03!
Hi guys, I've just concluded a very good deal on a new Palmer PDI-03!
![]() I'm curious to hear how it sounds. I'll post clips soon! I'll both record with the AC30 and of course with the Marshall gear (JMP-1 + EL34 50/50). Share your opinions on Palmer gear! From what I know, it's a general consensus (acording to what I read on various websites) that the PGA-04 has more options, but the PDI-03 sounds better and is the one used by famous guys suchas Satriani, EVH and Richards.

Re: Palmer PDI-03!
Yes! They were already on the forum in the Cellar section.
Anyway... (click on QUI if altervista shows up) With modded VOX AC30CC2X (cycling all the settings - Rolling Stones riffs): http://pregnosplatter.altervista.org...VOX%20test.mp3 With Marshall JMP-1 + EL34 50/50 Audioslave style (original riff) http://pregnosplatter.altervista.org...alt%20rock.mp3 and Hard rock style (riff from AC/DC's "Send for the man") http://pregnosplatter.altervista.org...0the%20man.mp3 dunno why, but my drummer plug-in was drunk in this one... but this is the rock lol Still Marshall, but clean this time (original riff) http://pregnosplatter.altervista.org.../new%20pop.mp3 My comment is that the unit really sounds good. It simulates the speaker/power amp interaction convincingly, with the right Reverb plug-in it can really be true. Just 6 settings but each of them makes a dramatic change. Ah yes, the guitar is a Parker Fly Mojo, with various pickup settings (also split-coil and piezo blended in sometimes).

Re: Palmer PDI-03!
right now ive got a Behringer Ultra-G DI box but it doesnt have the professional voicing that the Palmer has. its actually very raw sounding and they have a 4x12 cab emulation switch that creates some sort of eq that cuts the highs alot so its rather hard to work around it with more treble compensation.
here is the SD JB8 pickup into my DSL100, the DI unit makes it a tad grainy. https://home.comcast.net/~musicalsx/sounds/JB8DSL100.mp3 very upper mid rangey with alot of aggression, too much imo. |
