whats so special about the 5g price tag? I mean, they are modeling after early marshall amps for the most part? I don't get it, but at the same time the only thing I know about them is Ricky Medlocke is using one. someone enlighten me please.

They don’t make many, nothing else sounds like them and they don’t work cheap.

Theres a market for everything, theres lots of companies that think they can build a better Marshall and charge a premium for it, I never understood it either. That's all it really is.

I’m sure it kicks ass if RM is using it.

Neil Zaza also uses Wizard amps. Fantastic player. His tone is good, but not something I get too excited about. I'll take my 2555 tone any day of the week!!

Not better, but definitely different. They have been in charge of AC/DCs guitar tone for a while now. They know tone, no question about that.

I've always felt like the Soldano SLO was the ultimate Marshall so is it an improvement of that? IDK but after owning a SLO I can't possibly see or hear a better variation of one. I'm opened minded but not willing to drop 5G on one to find out.

So this topic made me curious so off to youtube I went to check out some Wizard demos.

No doubt those are fine sounding amps.

I'd still take a Bray. More to my tastes, and at a somewhat lower price point. I like the bite and edge that the Brays have.

Seems a crazy price but whats the after sales service for working muso's? Do they provide backup if a amp is in the shop? Do they have the market where they can prioritize & spend time with each client? Out of my league but there must be a good reason they are noticed by some who would simply tell them to take their crap & piss off if they weren't happy with them.

Just wait until winter namm , reading between the things Dave Friedman has hinted at he is probably releasing his take on a proper old school 50 watt Plexi there . Will certainly be less than 5k .

Pretty sure they aren’t trying to sell thousands of amps—if the price is too high they would I’m sure suggest that you move on. I imagine a big part of the reason they charge a lot of money for their work is that I’m pretty sure they make these amps themselves—they don’t farm out the work like a lot of other boutique ‘builders’ nowadays.

Does Two Rock or Soldano do all the above?

Ricky Medlocke uses them, he stated on an interview that Marshall wouldn't work with him when his Plexi got damaged during the flood. (He caught a lot of heat about that statement). but me personally, you can find a Plexi or JMP for cheaper than that and have the real thing. of course he can afford to make that kind of decision. but most the rest of us it doesn't make practical sense.

Its just the old High Price makes it the best for some people. Look at cars. Some cars are absolutely ugly BUT because they have a high price tag numbnuts buy them. Same goes for high priced wine and cigars!

Just FYI, when you buy an amp from David Bray it's tweaked to the customer's tastes and also the original purchaser is entitled to two free revoicing sessions, but you pay the shipping costs involved. Bray offers a level of personalization and customer interaction that is second to none and at a price point that is well below some others in the market that don't offer that personal customization.
