So a friends bandmate, who is a lefty, ordered a 2019 60ies LP online. Took 6 months to arrive. Price: 2300 Euros (approx 2.5k bucks).

I'll let the pictures do the talking:

    IMG-20191213-WA0002.jpg IMG-20191213-WA0003.jpg IMG-20191213-WA0004.jpg

I told him to send the thing back, reclaim his cash and go shopping for a used guitar he can inspect and try out in person.

Is this the new QC we've been promised by Mister Rockstar CEO Curleigh?

    Hilarious hahahaha

    Catastrophic PLEK machine failure lol?

Although... nah... wouldn't explain that weird "aborted zero fret" groove or how it's not in the same place as that joke of a nut

Curious though, does the rest of this "guitar" look "fine", only stuff on and around the fretboard effed up? Or is everything else super-lulzy too?

Hmm... could this be a case of stolen at customs/shipper, replaced with Chibson... hence the 6 mos and the crappiness?

Although then again, prolly nah... has fret nibs... and I've never seen a Chinese guitar that bad...

Send it back with very firm and polite letters to customer relations with pictures, even link it here.

Who is the retailer, they should never send something out like that, I suspect its a fake. You guys overseas should only buy from reputable retailers like Andertons and Thomann, we in the US have Guitar Center, Sweetwater, etc. etc.

I'm left handed as well like the OP, you NEVER get to try before you buy, nobody stocks lefty. You gotta buy from a retailer with a liberal return policy like the big box stores, a mom and pop wont take returns at least mine doesn't.

Any more pics of the rest of it? If that's a real Gibson it should have been bulldozed like that pile of Thunderbird x's they smashed. That has to be a counterfeit right?..more pics would tell.

I'm perfectly willing to bet it's a genuine Gibson USA. That picture is a textbook example of their continual quality control issues that are obviously carrying over with the new management that's in place.

If I paid $2500 for that I would be sending off emails asking for a refund pronto. The retailer, the company would all get emails with pics and alot of wtf's..and after that wait probably not real cordial ones either.

I have a recent (2018 ) SG Standard that's absolutely near perfect in every respect. How a company can be so sporadic with quality control I have no clue. Unacceptable..return return return.

Why would you buy a guitar without first playing it . Anything built in China is like this . You have no idea who builds it or how it is built. Just replace the nut it is not worth the hassle to send it back. All g c is going to do is put it on the wall and give another chines guitar

It's not so much the nut as it is the fretboard. There are tooling marks and the very edge of the rosewood that meets the nut is a mess. It's not a Chinese made guitar.

Never ever buy a guitar without playing and inspecting it first. Ordering a $2500 Les Paul online sounds insane to me, sorry.

And He paid $2500 for it. Not $249 for a chinese copy. Chinese, USA.. Either way I think a refund should be forthcoming. If it is Chinese it's outright fraud. If it's USA it's unacceptable quality for a new $2500 guitar. Show me my money back I say...can't be fast enough on that.
