For the JCM 900 I found these.. I know some guys use distortion with their amps.. I like the OD pedal more I think... for 70 euro both..I had to buy them.

You can still use an OD pedal in channel B to boost.
I use a Maxon OD-9, and a Boss Blues Driver BD-2.............mostly I will use the OD-9 with humbuckers, and the BD-2 with single coils.

    It's perfect for channel b.
It's marshall voiced. They used the Boss as a blueprint I think.
That satchurator had to replace the Boss ds-1 .. I don't like that sound very much.. even on channel a it's to fizzy.
Just bought a Vox time machine to go with the other pedal.. wah, overdrive and delay.. I don't need more. Delay was expansive..72 euro with postal cost.

SD1 it’s the only od pedal I have, maybe one day when I have more dough to spend I will try something else but at this time it is only the SD1

Do you get most overdrive from the amp or the pedal? Never used it this way...
I tried it today.. on the od channel B it is hard to control at high volumes..just need to tweek it more I think.

Since purchasing my JVM410H back in 2007, my distorted/overdrive/dirt tone comes almost always from the amp itself, but I think I've used an od/distortion/dirt pedal from time to time.

When I do use distortion/overdrive/dirt pedals, it's usually an original Boss SD-1 from the 1990's or a T-Rex MudHhoney pedal. There are a few other OD/distortion/dirt pedals I've used over the years, but those two really tap into the particular OD/distortion/dirt that I like for certain situations.

If I'm every using a different amp that isn't quite giving me what I want, I usually set the amp to clean (or "clean-ish"), then stick either the SD-1 or Mudhoney in there and it's instant gratification.

Keeley mod Blues Driver, MXR Prime Distortion currently. Keeley is my current fave. Out of what I used to use I would buy another BK Butler Tube Driver.

For amazing Progressive, Thrash and Power metal tones I like the TS808 Fromel mod and a Voyager or Archer through my 79 JMP. I also like the Soul Food.

I love my Keeley BD2. I've never used a stock one, so I really couldn't say what the changes are over the stock version, but it has more balls than my SD1. I like stacking them. I set both as clean boost, so there's not a crazy amount of gain going on. If I need a bit more oomph over my rhythm sound I use the SD1. If I need a bit more I will use the Keeley BD2. Then for leads I kick both on.

JimiRules, the keeley is my desert island pedal for sure, I really don't use anything else pedal wise for drive. It's my one stop shop for out board dirt. the MXR is only used for when I want a rattier drive tone which is not very much. The stock BD-2 did not do anything for me.

I'm not familiar with how those two compare to each other, I never got into the boss pedals too much.

I have several that I use for different things.

    Maxon TBO-9
    Maxon OD-808
    Marshall DriveMaster
    Catalinbread Naga Viper
    Mesa V1 Bottle Rocket
    Blackstar HT Drive

    * Xotic EP Booster - not an aggressive pedal, nor is it a true OD, but it's glorious sounding and will grow a little hair when you crank it
