i got a mg30dfx and i don't know what is contour can comebody help me out
I have the MG100dfx combo and the MG head. The contour is sort of redundant because it decreases or increases the amounts of mids on the overdrive channel. You can achieve essentially the same thing with the Mid knob. I am not sure but it seems to control a slightly different frequency of mids than the "Middle" knob. I keep it around 12 o'clock and adjust the mids with the Middle knob.
I'm not quite sure exactly what it does..
however, by definition contour means to 'shape'..geometrically in audible fashion..
so..I believe it either boosts or cuts the mid range frequencies..
I own a MG15 micro stack that I use as a practice amp..I use the contour control all the time to help emulate some of the guitar tones on recordings if I am learning a cover song..
It really appears to only affect the mid range frequencies of the amp.
when you crank the contour it sounds like some shit death metla band.
if you put really low it sounds like hard rock, and 80s metal
On Mgs, its usually a single knob that either scoops mids with boosted bass and treble, or boosts mids with less bass and treble. The thought is it gets you more metal tone to classic tone with one knob.
Contour? It's the shape of my wife's butt after a baby?
