i think it might be a jcm 800
That would be a JCM8002203ZW signature head.
the most muscular sounding marshall that i have ever heard .
A beast of an amp, only too fitting for a beast of a guitar player.
that amp will scramble your DNA !!!!!!!!!!
Zakk Wylde got his famous tone using a JCM-800 model 2203, years ranging between '81-'83. The amps he was using had four 6550 output tubes as opposed to EL34, that's where the massive headroom and diamond cutting lead sound comes from. He's plugging the guitar into the High Gain input of the amp and has an MXR overdrive in front of the amp. No effects loop crap here. EMG 81's in the bridge position of a Les Paul Custom.
That's his tone then, today it's all signature stuff live, but on the records he's putting out, I guarantee you he's pulling out his old Marshall's.
The signature stuff is a Wylde overdrive, by MXR, and the Marshall JCM800 2203ZW, Signature Les Paul and pickups, damn, I think the dude might have his own wah wah too. jeeeze.
very smart guy
Zakk used a Boss SD-1 in front of his old JCM800 2203 on the first four Ozzy records, he used it until MXR made his sig. pedal, which was based off his SD-1.
and for what its worth ....... i think a modded SD1 can sound every bit
as good if not better IMO!
