I've always thought of death metal as tuning below drop B.

It means dark screaming loud simple devil music with idiots in the crowd I want to crush when they bounce off me. Went to one show and got into an altercation (I’ll leave it at that). I do not like that shat one bit!!!!

Death metal to me means there’s still music out there better than rap.

I like the heavier stuff, but when I cant understand what they are singing, that's perhaps too heavy for me. Slipknot is about as heavy as I can go.

I think the drop tuning, double kick stuff is a taste not for everyone. A few years back, I started playing around with thicker gauge strings, drop-tuning, Recto's, chug-type playing... I somehow always find my way back to my Marshalls. :D

I enjoy Sleep, but they are not death metal, heaviest I go is all that remains, and a few others that I am at a loss of memory on just now! Cheers Mitch
