This may sound strange on an amp forum but what do you enjoy driving ?
I'm thinking about buying a car to restore or buying a one that's already done. My first choice is a late 70's Firebird or a Grand National. Two of my favorites. I know you guys have some nice rides. Pics always ad points.

The Grand Nationals are cool cars and the 3.8l turbos have a fair amount of power and can be easily modified for significantly more. They were made in limited numbers and examples in good condition can be spendy. If you like this platform you may consider a forth gen(81-88) Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. They are very similar in looks and had a 5.0l(305cid) V8 and T-tops as some of the available options. You can easily drop in a 5.7l(350) or 6.5l(400) as they are all the same engine family.

    I have a '08 E150. That's my beast.

I'll tell you, owning a van like that now days opens you up to all sorts of FBI/KGB/Gestapo type investigations. When I bought it, I got interrogated by the dealership.

Why do you want a van?
What are you going to use it for?
    etc.
    etc.

When I got insured, I got the same line of questioning. At one point, the state decided that the insurance rates should double (for no reason), so I ended up shopping around. I had to answer all the same questions over & over again & some companies wouldn't even insure me, AAA being one of them.

Used to be you could buy, just whatever you want, & use it for whatever you want. I guess that's not the case anymore...

Try explaining to a musician illiterate person that you have 4 SVT cab's that you need to haul around, or that you need to haul around your photography equipment. (no, not just my iPhone)

Nevermind that you'll be parking in not so good areas w/ said gear in vehicle & at all hours of night.

    That's a thing

One Monday morning I decided to drive home from Ontario .....Home, Memphis TN

So everything was going well. American border guard claimed he actually knew who I was
Got back on our side OK
Dropped by my aunt's house in Wayne MI to pick up my then wife n kid ,and we head for home

So we're makin it down the road MI /OH / KY
It's night time now in Kentucky ,Im haulin ass with the drummer & my fam in the van . The wind is blowin pretty hard .....THEN, the blue lights in the mirror

So this cop is givin' me the 3rd degree, pokin' his square head in the van . He sees the SVT cab layin in the back . "What's THAT?", says he ....
First thought in my mind ,"Oh nothing sir, just a couple illegal aliens"
But I caught myself and made it home early in the AM
Better to just feed the constabulary somethin they wanna hear ,and be on your way , than to be a smartass sittin in a county jail in KY

I'm restoring a 1969 Firebird 400 right now. I had to chase down a lot of electrical fixes which cost a small fortune. After four years, $8k in parts/labor, and a lot of sweat equity, it's finally reliable. I've got other toys, but this is the one that gets the most looks, smiles, thumbs up per gallon.
