The hotel I work at needs to have someone around during the night for insurance reasons. So I am doing nightshifts right now and I am alone in a big ass building.

Yesterday I made myself comfortable, put some music on through the soundsystem, read a book and did my patrols around the hotel every now and then.

Tonight I figured... hey, if I bring my laptop, a guitar, my Interface and my Marshall Bluetooth Speaker, I can play guitar!

So that's exactly what I did:

Brought my beater guitar with a PAF Pro in the bridge, in Reaper I'm using a TSE 808 OD into the Ignite Emissary Amp Plugin and I have my Virtual Cabinets in the Two Notes Wall of Sound Plugin.

Sounds friggin awesome! Currently practicing Shewolf by Megadeth, I have everything down including the guitar solos, just need to tighten it up a bit.

Got another night shift tomorrow. Can't wait. Work CAN be fun after all :D

    Cheers

Hell, I'd bring in a half stack and set up in the hotel's nightclub. Or a meeting room.

Maybe I should see if I can get that sort of a job for the duration.

A lot of motels have a big-azzed conference room..A stack would sound killer in there! :jam:

It's a quite small 4 star, 6 storey hotel, so nothing fancy like a Marriot, Hilton or Hyatt worth robbing :')

That is quite the idea. The place doesn't have a big or seperate conference room, only a restaurant in the lobby. But hey, I could drag along my 2203 with my two 412 cabs and set up in the big ass parking garage. The reverb of that place alone must be epic. Pretty sure I'd get the cops called on my ass and lose my job though

    :funny:

That guitar cost me 130 bucks and I initially bought it to rip out the Gotoh Floyd and use it in a partscaster build. Turns out it was built by some unknown luthier and it sounds and plays damn great!

He wound his own pickups with a push pull, 2 mini toggle switches, HSH configuration, volume, tone, 5 way switch. Waaay too many options for me and as you see way too many holes in the body. I actually ordered a blank sheet of pickguard material I'll be cutting by hand to cover that up and go for 2 humbuckers with a 5 way super switch, one volume and one tone. Shall be glorious once it's done. As said, the guitar play effortlessly, feels like quality and sounds good. A steal for 130 bucks :D

I did feel a bit spooked walking down the fire escape stairway from the 6th floor down in cold neon light... but once I came back to the lobby I blasted some music and played guitar, so if there were any ghosts I either scared them away or they were headbanging :fever:

    Just got home and cracked open a beer. It's 7 am here in Austria and that's my breakfast. I mean technically I just finished my shift and I'm off to bed pretty soon. Not happy about having my normal wake-sleep cycle turned around that drastically, but hey tomorrow is my last shift and then I can go back to having a normal schedule again. Sure as hell can't wait to play some guitar again;

Maybe I'll bring my Laney IRT Studio, connect it to the music system with the headphone out and play that. :shred2:

So are you hoping this viral mess continues as long as possible now?

Quite honestly, the sooner it is over, the better. People are dying from this, I have grandparents, I do not enjoy the situation.

For the time being that we are in necessary lockdown I try to make the best out of it. If it wasn't for my guitars and the music, I'd probably go bananas...

I have a Rockman that I bought in 1985 when we had a death in the family and I was trying to be respectful and not crank it . I didn't really bond with this device and went back to full blast .
