As Scotty said '' She canna take it cap'n ''

The valve on the left, which is quoted as being 100% healthy, has in fact been to more different worlds than most, it's done warped Hyperdrive one too many times.
Seriously though, it has what we call ''red plated'' and she couldn't deliver what was being asked, so much so that the plate wall has even deformed.

Apart from the fact I'm not entirely sure they are even Mullards lol.

    Go careful out there guys.

Sorry not sure how to extract pictures for future ref when auction finishes.

The link just takes me to ebay in general. No pics of these tubes you are referring to.

I just got a very nice looking set of 50 year old 6l6GCs that look like they're in way better shape than me. Guess I'll have to fire 'em up to know for sure.

Many of the used "NOS" tubes for sale that are "tested," are actually JUNK.
And I have warned the forum about paying for this JUNK many times.
Buy new tubes, and stop throwing your money down the toilet.

I could not say no to these
I just could not say no to these beauties....The Gold Lions had holes poked in the plastic so they could be tested.

Always go for NOS if you can but the problem is proving that they are, today fakes are hard to prove, do your research first but as time goes by Mullard`s and the like will soon be gone for ever.

Back in the day there were box loads and dirt cheap too.

How do you know? Are you discerning this from the pictures?

Personally, I never buy used power tubes, so I was just wondering...

I always buy newer tubes. A while ago I came across hundreds of NOS tubes I got for free from an old tv/radio repair man. I sold those suckers on eBay. Didn't even try them out in my amps. Just tested them with a tube tester to make sure they were good and got rid of them and made some money. I knew what they were worth. I don't buy into the NOS hype. A good tube is a good tube.

At 1.2 pounds, go for it.
That left one is probably why the bidding is so low. Lets see how it ends.

My above post is based on the fact that you may have a working good tester or at least know where you can get them tested on a good tester.
Otherwise do not waste your money.

I would NOT through unverified tubes in any of my equipment.

Although I'm a sucker for vintage gear, something I generally can't justify is spending the extra $$ for an old tube that may or may not hold up when there's reissues of most of the cool old tubes available..The reissues ain't cheap either, but way more affordable that the NOS stuff. The OP is right, one better know their stuff if they're going for the NOS stuff.

But those ARE some sweet-lookin' Gold Lions, fer sure!

Yep correct as it's obvious, the pic shows major distortion of the valve plate from extreme heat/demand.
If I get chance I will post a pic of a valve red plating, just got to go through my box of duds.

Just buy NOS tubes from a reputable online dealer instead of unknown ebay sellers, best of both worlds.
