Each is great. I think I love 68 Greenbacks and Silver Alnicos equally.

The only Celestion alnicos I like are the blues and silvers. 15 or 20 watts max. Since I run with the PS-2, max wattage is never an issue. The key to the alnicos is that they sound best with an open back cab or at least partially open. They aren’t that far apart sonically from the greens in the same open back cab.

Johan Segeborn usually does very informative videos but the Celestion alnico he is using sounds too trebly to me. These alnico speakers in good shape and broken in have actually fuller mids than the 75hz greeniesto my ears and the tone is not that significantly different. The alnicos stay a little more gravelly until you really drive them and the clean tone imho is as good as any Fender I’ve played through.

I have to do a video at some point because a good alnico and good greenback are sonically closer than some might think and equally great.
