I need to get one of these units asap. So far I am leaning heavily towards the Kemper. My main concern is good low to medium gain tones done well.
Axe Fx probably has better effects, but thats not as important as the true representations of individual amps.
I want a unit that will sound great recorded direct into a workstation with no amp.

What are your thoughts on the two units?

    pros and cons?

I've never played a Kemper so can't comment there but one of the things that really impressed me about the Axe FX II is the lower gain models (classic Fenders for example). It does a much better job of providing the richness and touch sensitivity of a real amp compared to the various POD models I had used before. That said, although they don't exactly respond like a real amp, even a POD can provide decent tones on higher gain stuff. It's the lower gain stuff that is harder to model IMO.

If you want something simple like a real amp, but with minimal FX, you want the Kemper.

If you care too much about FX and don't mind the tweaking, Axe.

I'd go with the Axe Fx simply because it looks cooler.

Of course you do. A rack version-it looks cooler.
I watched 10 Kemper vids and was hooked too.

The lower gain amps are what Im most interested in.
The Axe fx 11 and the Kemper use the same processing unit I believe.

I think that the Axe Fx 2 would be a better gigging unit, because the Kemper seems to load up slower etc.
But I just want something simple for home. The Axe Fx probably has a lot more than I need.

This is a thing of beauty. 20 years from now when I'm old and washed up I'll probably buy one for $40 like you guys buy your Lexicons from the 80's.
