I had a VTM60 for a while. Picked it up dirt cheap (I think I paid 100 bucks for it) with a roasted output tube PC board. My friend the local amp guru took out that burned up PC board and hand wired the output stage with heavy gauge solid buss wire. It was a work of art. The amp did sound very good but I found that it was pretty much a one trick pony. It did one thing very well. And I guess that was the point of it. I didn't fall in love with it but I sold it to someone who did and made a modest profit in the process. Everybody was happy.
i bought one when they first came out. sounded great at low volume, like crap when cranked. it must have been user error.
I had the 60 watter too. It was ok. Definitely not = to any hype I've read or heard. However I can only speak for the one I had. Builds vary even with the same amp as well as parts used and what condition.
I owned both models and wish I still had the 120. I've talked about each of them on this forum so I will spare the details now. Even if you are not a Soundgarden fan you have to admit this is good tone. That clip is the best example of what a 120 sounds like.
at this point you're better off just getting one of the many jose based amps that ceriatone makes imo.
