that´s a monster... again with the same metaphor: the major is like having a yard long dick. It´s really good to impress your friends, but it´s really difficult to use. this amp is like having a dick big as a sequoia, only worth as curiosity.

The second paragraph is factually inaccurate to the core, so I stopped reading right there.

"Jim Marshall found that Bassmans were selling like hot cakes in Britain, but couldn’t keep up with demand just by importing alone. So he cloned and modified its circuit and launched Marshall Amplification with the JTM 45 in 1962."

Jim Marshall never would have even thought about building amps if Pete Townshend had not come into his shop and requested that they build a copy of HIS Bassman, as he was having a hard time getting them. Townshend was also the brainchild behind the 8x12 cabinet, which was soon after cut in half to make two 4x12s because the Who's roadies threatened a mutiny over hauling the beasts around.

"The 400 PS also had an uglier aesthetic than its direct competition. Stacks were quickly gaining popularity at the time, and the SVT made for a good–looking stack. The 400 PS, on the other hand, came with its own chrome rolling stand. It would save the head from ventilation and vibration issues, but made the amp look more like a piece of hotel furniture than a piece of road equipment."

    Or a geriatric walker....

I remember seeing a PS 400 in a Guitar Center in Iowa...for about $400 bucks. I thought about it for 5 minutes ,then bought an Epi Valve Jr.....

It's about $4,000 for a second hand one.
It uses 8X KT88 output tubes.
(excrement) it's going to cost like$500 to re-tube it..

I don’t think you got any better tone out of those amps then a 100 watt amps . With that many power tubes you can have some real problems .

I know someone who has a 400PS. It needs work. If someone is actually interested in buying it, let me know. I'll connect you.

the main issue is turning on your amp and shutting down the energy for the entire city LOL.

A friend was telling me that Marshall did a run of 400w jcm800 heads for AC/DC, they also did a limited run for people to buy, but I can seem to find any info on them!
As if 200 watts wasn’t overkill enough...
