I don't want to derail Justin's thread anymore than I already have (I was going to wait until I got the body in hand to make a thread but I got too many questions after I posted my tease) so I'm going to go ahead and start this one. I just ordered my body a little while ago for my build. It's a Warmoth Swamp Ash on Swamp ash. I was originally going to do a solid finish but at the last minute decided I know me and that I might want to do a natural or transparent finish so I went ahead and spent the extra $50 to chose my top.

I am basically building this guitar around the MHD Straitjacket pickup I bought years ago with the intention of building a Super Tele for it. Well, I've built several Teles now and don't want to beat a dead horse so I decided to just go ahead and do a strat shape.

I already have the pickup and the Floyd (licensed for Jackson or what ever you call it) and the locking nut. and now I have the body on the way. Just need a neck and tuners and I hope to have those ordered by the time I get the body.

    (actual top)

    You're at it again???

Man you sure build guitars and build some nice ones. I can already see this one coming together. Beautiful wood grain, I bet Truoil and a rosewood neck???? I know you are not painting that beauty!

Have you ever done a white washed one where it has a tint of white but the grain still shows trough???

What ever I do, it will NOT be whitewashed...I hate that!

I'm thinking maybe a solid back and a stained/tinted top. Maybe a little color, not sure. I'm going to do some experimenting on some scrap wood and see what works. Hopefully I'll figure out what I'm going to do by the time the body gets here in a month or so.

    Lol derailing the thread.

Anyways it looks like to be a nice build. I also believe the jackson bridge was a more jackson floyd rose that is licensed, but not a shitty licensed. I also see it is a lo-profile trem that you have so that should be fun for shredding if you plan on doing so!

Also is there any information on the specifications you have for a neck? like woods and stuff?

I'm not sure yet on the neck. I like the feel of the wenge neck I put on my P90 Tele and I might go with that with an ebony fb, but more than likely I'll stick with the maple/rosewood thing, I don't know yet. I love the feel of rosewood so I'll probably go with Maple & rw but I don't know for sure yet. I just kind of go with my gut when it comes time to place my order. lol!

When did Rayne start putting labels on the back of his pickups?

So this is the one inspired by that Charvel you were interested in (me too lol)...only it'll be a better build and finish by doing it yourself, not to mention more rewarding. Good luck, should sound great!

It isn't inspired by that Charvel, the Chavel was just the closest thing I could find to the spec.s I have in mind. ...just wasn't close enough and I was going to have to settle for a couple of things I didn't like about it.

Just ordered the neck. Flame Maple with dark Indian Rosewood fingerboard. Sticking with what I know and love.
