Not the first thread on this Or probably not the last. It is interesting to me as it is a stoner culture driven groove metal rock. To many tags to name , however you package it. It is a derivative of Sabbath. I like it but have never become fixated on it or studied the hundreds of bands. So I looked them up on the tube.

I'm working on a project (on drums) that I would say would fall in this category. We're still in pre-production. Arranging, polishing stuff, working on vocals and harmonies, etc.

Hopefully we should have something in the next few months. I'll post it here once we have it online.

This is my first attempt at this style of rock, the first band I had heard , that I could really get in the groove on was Sleep, I am not so good at playing this because I keep wanting to put some driving Priest riffs into it! Cheers

Yea I can hear the riffing reminiscent of Sabbath - sounds likely a whole step down...nice

here's an older track by them. They were more heavy doom. That album was their best produced IMO, it was Rick Rubin's 1st non rap production...

I'm a casual fan of the genre. I would probably like it more if the songs didn't tend to be so long...I'd probably like it more if I still dropped acid.

I think if he got rid of or turned down the amount of fuzz this would sound better, but then this is my opinion, and I am not really anyone to give advice!

Damn, Mitch! That was really good. I like the tone, I like the giant reverb, I like how the chugging continues as you hit harmonics and little melodies and details--very well done, very cool indeed.

I thank you brother,I was cheating by using the delay on the tone lab, and I tried my best at keeping the rhythm going while also tapping into a single note phrase, glad it caught your attention, a compliment from another player is the best compliment a player can get! Cheers and thanks again

Speak of the stoner Devil. High On Fire won a Grammy, and 5 people in the audience knew who they where..and 3 where the band.

I'm just thankful they beat Jethro Tull..:applause:

I saw them at the High Noon Saloon in Madison Wisconsin a few years back, and while the genre isn't really my favorite, I was impressed by the sheer wall of sound these 3 guys threw out. Power grooves that's for sure. I've kind of been a fan after that.
