OK fault might be a bit strong, inspired may be a better position. I'll get back to cussin' him when I bend over for a pretty figured neck and black hardware.

I've had a love hate relationship with Tele's starting in the early 80's. Love the look, the scale but I keep trying to make them sound like a Lester. Somebody did me a favor in the late 80's and stole a Tele Deluxe with the nicest neck I've ever played on a Fender. That event introduced me to Charvel / Jackson supers and the monster was quiet for years. Got back into a guitar builders guild and built / drop topped three more with Fender necks that played well but were sacrificed to the LP Standard / Super strat Gods.

For the record an HB equipped Tele or even a Hot Rails style single coil just doesn't get it - tried it and it just felt wrong. Kinda like making moves on your sister...

So that long an rambling justification leads me to #6 - a Fender Standard body I drop topped [milled down the body and added figured wood] with some stunning curly maple. I was playing with fabric dyes and doing multiple hues, in this case purple sanded back and then cherry and it didn't inspire me to finish it out and the clear was blotched in spots so selling it was out too.

Lo and behold @DirtySteve posts his latest magnificent creation and that got me going - thank you Steve!

The original two tone finish -

Sanded back leaving a hint of color -

I haven't decided if I will drop another $500-$700 for the remaining bits [the neck will be the most] or if I'll just sell the body.

I didn't do it, Geeze. Mine was inspired by you, it just took me a while to get to it.

I just posted a NGD thread last week. Yes I haven't been around much for the last year and a half or so, health problems mostly, but I'm doing better.
