You are very late on this one. I was bummed that no one in here mentioned this when it actually happened....or maybe I missed it.

But yes, Nokie (one O) was a bad ass. RIP Nokie.

I heard about it a week or so later--thought about posting but decided not to. It is a real shame that his passing didn't make the headlines. The Ventures are a big part of the picture.

You know, people have asked me who I like, who my influences are, etc. I never answered because it doesn't matter and I don't care. But if made a list of my favorites, Nokie would be on it.

Sad to hear this. Nokie could certainly bust out a riff. Another great legend gone to the concert hall in the sky.

    I'm showing my age.................

Way back when, my buddy had a Montgomery Ward Ventures play along LP.

It showed note for note play along with The Ventures.

This was around the time when The Monkees first came on the scene.

Nookie had a big impact on this 14 year old.

I worked on a documentary film called RUMBLE a couple years ago. Nokie was one of the musicians I suggested they profile ...and he was very much alive at the time
But i guess ya can't fit everybody in

Im sure there's a Mosrite forum out there where he's getting respect everyday . Maybe I should check and make sure

it must have been a chewing gum festival where they played, or had chewing just been invented the day before and everybody got a free sample upon entry

Good thing. The Ventures were electric guitar / rock guitar pioneers. There oughta be a little appreciation

There is a lot of appreciation. You won't find it in here because the Ventures never wore spandex, but in non-hair metal realms of guitar playing, they are highly respected.

Slash is a big fan of nookie.

    Maybe he’s giving tone tips?

Sorry that was a little bit of a two-for-one.

Saw you point out a couple times that it’s one o, but also a play on ya know, hair metal guys and nookie. With an extra helping of slash showing Nokie how to get his tones.

Irritating side note, trying to spell that fellows name properly gives all kinds of autocorrect suggestions.
