Sabbath, the fing Beatles of metal!
BS dont sound like the Beatles.
Sorry not even close.
Missed the point Danny, entirely.... ...think of the Beatles and like pop rock in general man...It's the bread and butter of metal...universally loved by most, inspired countless hard rock/metal musicians, and was a major cornerstone of the genera in general. Ozzy though, for sure...his solo stuff...I hear all kinds of Beatles inspirations..totally obvious...
Sabbath was shunned by the mainstream music industry for the most part in the 60's & 70'.
I know me & my friends the ones that traded & listened to Sabbath back then we were mostly underground.
They were hardly mainstream like the last 25 years.
Even alot of parents would freak out finding a Sabbath album in your records.
LOL...still don't get it dude! In fact the answer is in your reply... It was mainstream in the 'underground' as was MOST metal of the time...um which was not much...but much later it was... Ask Rob Zombie...ask his opinion of BSabbath..totally agree...
Love Rob Zombie!
Yes because growing up in the midwest in the 60's & 70's was the same experience for everybody. Or so you seem to think.
Me & my friends never had a problem with Sabbath.
It was the squares.
My folks didn't like him until I finally moved out, and at first that was only because hearing an occasional song reminded them of me. Then his reality show hit the television, and they realized he was like a really nice guy, and now they like him. There was a time in my life from the early 80's through the mid 90's that Ozzy (both with Sabbath & solo) was right there at the top of my music food chain (along w/Van Halen, Motley Crue, and Judas Priest). Actually, I suppose he still is, though I certainly don't listen to him as much as I once did (mostly the deeper cuts these days if I'm in the mood).
Jake still does this one...
& do note, that the singer struggles w/ it. In fact, even though Ozzy struggled w/ a lot of his own material, almost every singer I've heard attempt to sing his stuff like him, has also struggled.
Even Dio struggled w/Ozzy material ... listening to him trying to pull off Black Sabbath from the Ozzy years is really awkward.
This is the part where I let everyone know that I think Sabbath and Ozzy both suck hard.
I think Europe is even better than that garbage. There.
Anonymous opinions are lame.
This is the official final countdown toward your eventual ban.
Comparison is fools gold. Ozzy this Dio that. And there are other vocalists that sounded great with TI at the helm.
My preference is Ozz era Sab before the split.
I sure as Fuck loved Dio on H&H. A different sound that kicked ass. Magical? Mystical? Fantasy? Whatever. I liked it. It is a fun ride.
Time wears on and we become fragile again. Always wanted my faves to stay golden. I can enjoy them in their prime whenever I want. None of us remain the same.
I tried to like sabbath years ago. I wanted to be one of those guys in the jean jacket that would flash the devil horns and yell “Sabbath!!!” But I couldn’t do it. The songs bored me. All sounded the same to me.
This arguing back and forth is kind of funny....reminds me of when I was about 8 or 9 years old riding the school bus home. Me along with some other cool kids had to let those other kids know that Kiss in fact was way better than the Beegees.
Come to think of it.....nah, maybe not the same.
I am a huge Schenker fan obviously , but Sabbath up to never say die with Ozzy and up to the mob rules with Dio are my absolute favourite band/bands . I lost a huge amount of respect for Ozzy when the Osbournes came out , it was just a ' vehicle' for Sharon to ' further ' herself never mind what a bunch of twats it made the rest of her family look like . She would probably argue ' look at all the money I've made for my family ' , fuck that I would rather be skint .VERY SAD .
