Well My son plays on a Marshall 1959s in the house and it’s just a little too much. We wear hearing protection when he plays. Just ordered a Trinity Triwatt DR 103 clone. It has 3 pre amp tubes a 12AT7 phase inverter. Can be played with 6V6,KT66 or EL 34 power tubes.
Does anyone here have one just wondering what you think about it?

A good amp would be orange tiny terror. crunchy but not too loud compared to 1959.

Get an attenuator, or order the 5W Trinity Triton. Otherwise keep the ear protection handy :)

I see youre handy building an amp, why not try to install a ppimv in the 1959?

Well the 1959 is a first reissue in which they only made 100. Not really sure if a ppimv would affect the value if he ever decided to sell it. It’s all stock.

Since my son has started playing guitar I have been wanting to build an amp. The amp was no cost to me. I find/pull stuff out of the trash(we don’t have dumpsters) and fix them. Mostly lawn mowers. I tune them up and get em running. They bring 100-150 bucks I’m getting ready to list a Herter’s hunting jacket which are selling for 100. I make 1000-1250 a year On Various things just from things ov value that are too nice to throw away and can be fixed. It’s my hobby I guess.
Here is more progress on the amp.

Progress on the amp is coming along nicely, nice job! So back to that 1959, as long you do a clean job on the ppimv its always reversible if you ever want to sell the amp, but if you dont want to mess with it you can always get an attenuator, or build one we have a plan here on the forum, you can talk to @JohnH about it. :yesway:

An attenuator is probably the way to go as my son worked all summer saving this amp and DOSEN’T want to mod it. I’ve tried. When I’m done with the Triwatt I would look in to the attenuator.
    Thanks

I predict that you will get too much hum buzz from the filament wires.
I think you will wind up moving those wires to lower the noise.

So I have a question, the cab that the amp goes in is just all wood on the inside. My sons 1959 100w has some aluminum in it’s a shield I guess. I can get some for the new amp. What do you guys think? I have very nice stainless steel or aluminum both are .025”

My vote is use the shield, either ally or SS is good.
Without the shield they can have this static come through all the time, I think it's RF
