Kind of sick of the media hype and the turn it is making here.
Where are you going with all the pasted news media ?
I had hoped that this year could be the year my messed up life turned around.
    I guess not.

    Mama says "nothing good"

Just don't get pulled in, the media is just doing what they do..Watch or listen to something else.

If you're trying to get your sh*t together, listening to the hype ain't gonna help one bit.

    Hang in there! :hippie:

Buck up, ol' boy.... we're all in this together.

I always try to obtain my news from it's source rather than relying on a wad of treasonous, hateful and childish fools to tell me what's going on. Not surprisingly, the information I gather is almost always vastly different than what I'm hearing reported on pop media.

Nothing is ever as bad as we perceive it to be anyway

And everything passes....there's an "after" to all this. Let that occupy your thoughts.

Thanks Trel , the end to the never ending seems to beat me down. I got to get through this year. New job , selling home after 2 years ( relocating for job) . I never sold anything in less than 5 years. I never worked a job for less than 5 years , almost married 40 years to one. First and last marriage.
Fear of the unknown is worst than knowing , well maybe not.
It is so damn hard starting over.

I certainly understand. and you're doing the right thing in talking about it. Sounds like you're a pretty steady and stable guy, and all this hoopla has just got you a little rattled.

We're all a bit rattled. Anyone who isn't somewhat shaken is either stupid or blissfully unaware of what's happening, i.e. in a coma or living on a mountaintop in Tibet.

I started my life over completely when I was 35 (I'm 50 now). Quit drinking, quit smoking, moved 45 miles away from my bad stomping grounds, and started a new career. It was all worth it, as I'm doing better now than I ever thought would be possible.

Fuck the unknown, just set your goals and focus on accomplishing them. You got this.

    where are you moving to?

The sucky thing, is, right now is a buyer's market, if you have any money, but, you'll have to wait for things to recover to expect to get anything on your returns...

I have been wanting to unload a bunch of gear, but, right now, I'm thinking that w/ all this uncertainty, people are going to be tight fisted & buy essentials.

I'm not going to sell a $1,000 guitar for $200-300...

I see some people selling stuff at higher then normal prices, but, I think they're delusional. Who's going to pay $1500 for a used JCM900 head? etc...

On the other hand, I see people dumping things for cheap, but, I'm in a tight spot financially right now. CA has made freelancing illegal, so all my freelance work either stopped, or is under the table, so I can't promote anything. I'm ok to survive, for the time being, but, I don't have anything to spare & just spend on unnecessary stuff...

    Priorities... :nutkick:

Independent contractors/freelancers are now required to be classified as employees of whomever they are working for. That includes the "employer" being required to pay into the system for the bennies that they do for the rest of their employees. Social security, health coverage, etc. This also applies to musicians.

it's a union power grab in a non right-to-work state...

They wanted to sock it to Uber/Lyft, because Taxi companies felt threatened. They've been trying to do something legal to rid themselves of the 2 non-union independently contracted services.

In the meanwhile, they affected musicians, photographers, hair stylists/barbers, any sort of entertainer. It's also affected production workers.

    https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2019-10-25/hiltzik-freelance-writers-gig-worker-law

They claim that, the industry that they want to put out of business, doesn't pay it's workers good enough, so they put them (& every one else) out of work altogether...
