I don't start for 3 weeks, because I have a lot to finish up at my current job, but today I accepted an offer as a senior software developer at a small company that books travel for school bands, among a few other things.

I'll be the only tech person there, which has its pros and cons. I had that at a start up that I worked at several years ago and loved it, and now with more senior level experience, I'm excited to push myself again!

It's about a 20% pay increase. I don't get quite as much in bonus and stock options as my current company, but the salary increase more than makes up for it.

And supposedly the entire company is going to see Hamilton the week that I start, so my wife and I get to go too.

Congrats!! My wife would have told me to take a 20% paycut just to go see Hamilton. :D

Go get em' in your new ride. It's scary, but awesome to start something new like that.

Mine was changing her work schedule before I told her if I had decided to take the job.

    Good luck.

I've been self employed since 1983/84.

    I'm burnt out.

Starting on Monday. Got to see my new office today. It's a good size. Bigger than my current bosses' offices, and definitely bigger than my current cube. I'll be sharing with one other person, but she is only there 2 days a week usually. And it'll be the first office I've had with a window!

Well, it's the president's wife, so there's no appropriate answer...

C# web forms and MCV mostly, which is my wheelhouse. There's also a mobile app that I believe is in Angular. Not very familiar with that. It sounds like that could be rewritten if I want, and I've been learning React Native, based on recommendations.

That's as appropriate an answer as you could give...
Best of luck in the new job!

Long time C# developer. I never did learn MVC but I made my team start using it over web forms. Sometimes I miss day to day development, but I don’t miss spending weeks sometimes months down the mental rabbit hole before a big release. It’s exhausting after a decade+.

Is that one of those setups that allows you to sit or stand?

Yeah. My last job, we had full desks that would raise and lower, but I'm sure these Varidesks are cheaper. I think it was $500 for mine, and then another $200 for the arms.
I worked on that some today. Got a new dock, so that I should only have to plug in 1 cable to the computer, instead of 1 for power, 1 for the dock, and 1 for the extra monitor, since the other dock can only do 1 4K monitor at a time. Right now, I have the 2 docks daisy chained to be able to run both monitors, so I'm hoping I can run both 4Ks off the new one after I get a Mini DisplayPort adapter.
