Changed everything. Don't care for gold hardware. Still setting it up/letting everything
settle in. Plays nice right now. Bareknuckle Black Dog p/u's. Probably gonna change to
BK Emeralds. Weighs in at 8.6lbs. I'm very pleased with it so far. 87.2.jpg

Looks great and congrats!!! I dont like gold either (a major reason I dont own a custom other than my silver burst). I would change it all out also and yours looks really nice!

Yeah... that's why I don't buy Customs. I don't like gold hardware. That's the ticket.

Good looking axe by the way

    Gold costs more.

Why not buy a guitar with no gold to begin with.

BTW, I like stock LP Customs .

    Cool guitar anyway.

Congrats @J Saw,....I like the upgrades you made, looks great!

I’m not a gold fan either, only on Customs for some reason. But even then only a couple of finishes,....pretty much Wine Red and Black.

    I know :D.

This is just about as close as I'm gonna get to what I'd consider my "dream guitar".
Always loved the look of the binding and the headstock on customs, just never cared
for the gold hardware or the weight. Being able to see the grain is a plus.

Thanks for all the kind words

Looks great - certainly doesn’t look like a 32 year old.

If only women can age the same...

Aged gold on a black LP Custom is unbeatable, IMO. I didn't know Gibson made a CL in tobacco? Looks truly awesome! Hold onto that one. My Less Plus Goldtop has become my go-to instrument. That, and my '96 LP Custom.

Archive photo of a '69 LPC w/worn gold... X rated!

I've also got one of these. About 7.5 lbs and plays great.
I'm definitely gonna hold on to the 87.

I like the gold hardware but only on the right colors. Black certainly looks good with gold. However, I just don't think it would look right on your machine. I think you probably did right by swapping. I don't think it looks good on any of the bursts.

Nice. If you can, hold on to the original parts.

Dude! How many guitars do you have?

Good for you! That’s cool. My motto is “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing!” Apparently, you think the same way.
