    I use Tung-Sol's in #1 & #2 and a Sovtec 12AX7LPS in # 3 for the PI

How would you compare Jjecc83s vs the EH 12ax7 sound wise

Just got a new Mullard. The CV4004 version. Put it in V1 of my SC and I'll be damned the amp sounded more Marshly(mid focussed). I'm liking first that it sounded noticeably different, secondly it enhanced the Marshall voicing of the amp. Pretty cool.

been years since I've tried the EH Ax7 but from what I recall it's brighter. The JJ would be flatter or smoother.

i found the JJ to be dark and flat sounding in both my amps and also a bit noisy. The jjECC803s is another thing though - great
The EH to me sounds more musical (has that shimmer) and with more midrange and a very stable quiet tube
I run the EH in all 3 slots in my 900 and they sound great in that head, theyre been in there for many years and still sound great

IMO, JJs are darker and more compressed.

My favorite 12ax7s are EH, Mullard and Tung-Sols it all depends on how the amp and your setup reacts to it.

You need to buy and try!
