I played guitar in a loooong gone former life and decided a couple years ago to start up again. Build guitar, get amp, got a JamMan after a good friend said just do it, I'll do all the tracks you'll ever need, Danny Hein of the long gone "Fabulous Flippers" show band, and pray for the best. Guitars now done and I found a 5275 for like cheap, $80 after just a little begging, I'm old and poor and guy that had it was well off, (understatement). Amp is a fantastic blues box, with my SG look alike it can cry, or scream

just what I wanted, the only issue is the on/off switch, seriously noisy, huge pop and scratch even with the volumes and every knob turned all the way down. Do I look for a shop that can do something with it? Can I do it myself? or is that normal given the age?

Welcome to the forum Riverdog.

Leave the amp on and try powering from a outlet strip, try turning the outlet strip on/ off.
Do you get the same pop noise or is the noise gone?

Welcome to the forum, not familiar with your amp, but other more knowledgeable members will come along to help you with your questions, my lead 100 mosfet has a loud pop when you power off, and I know that I have read of a fix for it , just can’t remember where! Cheers Mitch

I was advised by someone thats has had the same issue for 20 years to strum all the string when turning it off, hit the strings then the switch, it works, can turn it back on in the same motion with no noise. I let the amp totally drain power and I still have the pop on startup. Getting closer, every time I power on I wake up my dog, shes comes in and says "WHAT THE HELL YOU DOING?" then goes back to bed.

I've had the 5275 for a while now. It's a 1984, but I switched out to the large check grill. Real reverb tank like a tube amp. The loud pop at startup is normal and reminds me of my old 71 Twin Reverb.
