I just got a Schecter CR-6 and I'm finding some flaws. I need to figure out asap if these are "normal" or not, because the local GC is still open by me, but it will probably close any day because of the virus.

Here's the fretboard. Is wenge supposed to have all these little cracks? They are all over the fretboard from top to bottom. I don't notice them when I play, but if I feel between the strings, you can definitely feel them, especially if you use your fingernails. The only 2 other guitars I have are a MIM Strat and an Epiphone Les Paul. Neither of them have these cracks. I live in Florida, if that matters.

And then here's the little neck chip. It's hard to see exactly how big it is, but I don't think it's any deeper than it appears. Obviously it's not a problem, but is it something that could cause problems later?

Top photo: No. that’s just normal wood grain of the fretboard. rosewood or pau ferro aren’t very dense compare top maple fretboard

Bottom photo: looks like just a very minor cosmetic chip that does not affect its playability

you can still return and exchange it if you’re not comfortable keeping it...

That fretboard is 10x better than what you'd get off of Gibson's assembly line.
And that's what you have to realize, it's a 600 dollar guitar that came off an assembly line. They're all like that. It's par for the course unless you want to drop 6K. They'll take it back if you don't like it.

Thanks. I don't want to take it back. I just have OCD and wanted to make sure those weren't things that would cause problems.

My old Jackson developed a crack in between the neck and middle pickup, and the crack started to grow...

Keep it if it plays well and have knock some off if it's an issue with you.

Even my 2002 LP has grain in the fretboard. There is no problem with the chip unless you really care about it, you could try get the store to give you like a small discount or something or if you really want to you can exchange it for another. If its a good guitar and it plays well, nothin to worry about than

Some of my guitars have similar wood grain imperfections, and I think it's normal. As for the little chip, it either bothers your or it doesn't. Only the OP can answer that. It doesn't matter what the rest of us think. If it bothers the OP, he should return it. If it doesn't, then he should keep it, and see if he can get a small discount from GC as @Sustanium noted.

Are you the kind of guy that keeps stuff perfect forever? or does your stuff get banged around a bit (mine does), if so then that chip will just be one of many eventually, if not then get a different one. The wood grain is fine.

No, I bought it new from GC, why? The "setup to play" sticker on the back says 9/2019.
