I'm looking for two things:1; I just got an Ibanez RG3EXFM1 and love it but, pups have to go so out of my multiple choices what would YOU suggest. I have used them all and own them all and would prefer the opinions holding some sand if possible (thanks)

2:What are your two primary shredders, what'd you mod them with and why?:headbanger:

[IMG]The options are:Gibson 490R and either Seymour Dunca JB:
EMG 85 set plus 18 volt mod:
Gibson 490R and Bareknuckle Miracle Man.
I already own all of these and like them all. this guitar is going to be hevy only and probably in drop C tuning. I have two SG's for the less heavy and this plus my Jackson SLSMG to be my drop C metal guitars. This RG is to be my stage beater. I got it for $175[IMG]

The 90's MIJ Ibanez 450/470/550/570's are awesome guitars and can still be picked up pretty cheap. The stock pickups are pretty good but pop a Dimarzio DP100 in the bridge and you can really make 'em scream

    :cool2:

I bought an EMG 89/SA/SA set out of the junk bin at the local shop for $10. I dig 'em for drop tuning and really heavy stuff.

holy crap +1! Yeah i love the 89's an SA's. Well, i threw a JB in the bridge and it's tapped for now. I like it but, i just did that for now. It's a tough call for me becuase i like soooo many amps and guitars, pickups etc now...lol. I am thinking some EMG's probably 2 89's with a 9 volt cell per pup though. I put my 85's up for trade to get them. It sounds pretty good for a cheapie but, MAN those stock V8 and V7's SUCK....lol. My only real problem is the rosewood board...i like ebony and maple because i'm into pick attack but, it sounds good with the JB and that was just a "for now" pup. It's funny though, the neck is CLUNKY compared to my SLSMG and about on par with my SG gloss special. Whatever i throw in it will probably be the only thing left of the guitar in a couple of years though...i bought it to play HARD,lol. I'm seriously considering a few more RG's though i just can't do floating trems. Thanks everyone! I actualy like ALL the pickups that were suggested. I'd love some nailbombs but, i'd probably throw one in the neck of my goth and use the miracle man in the bridge for that guitar.....in fact, IM GOING TO! the NB and MM in the goth would devour small planets.

I had an MIJ 570 or 770 that i traded. it was a killer guitar but the trems i just have no use for. I do miss it though, sounded amazing. it actualy had a strat like tone but, super resonant.

    He Diesect, nice find man!

    My shredder...

It still has the stock active Jackson pups in it it. Tuned to drop B right now.

Have you tried Duncan Distortions? I have them in my Les Pauls and like them quite a bit.

When i re ppup my axes i generaly go for a hot bridge with ceramic magnets for the added clarity and bump in treble going IN to the amp and the Neck i almost always go alnico for it's richer bell like qualities and that is med-hi output but, this guitar's going to be metal, shred and beat to hell.

Duncan SH-6 (Distortion) - Ceramic mag, rated a 9 out of 10 for treb response, 16.6K output 5.5 res peak. Sounds like it's right up your alley. They aren't to hard on the wallet either.

Thanks. One of the SA's had a short or bad preamp, but I picked up a replacement off eBay for $20. I had the guitar with them in it for sale on the local Craigslist, but I might pull it and just sell the pup's if they are that good. :fingersx:

You know...i should get one of those either way. I've yet to try them first hand but, i remember a friend that had an iceman with a pair in it and mind you..he's not a great player but, that guitar had some balls. I completely fogot about it but, i asked him after about three half arsed chords. This was 3 years ago too, lol. I think i'm going to get one and try that out in my gloss SG special. right now i have a 500T in it coupled with a duncan 59 and i like it but, i'm always on the lookout.Ty:)

SEXY! Yeah i have to admit, though my SG's are my pride and joy my Jackson SLSMG is my go to axe. I actualy plan on getting another one but, if i do THAT may end up with an SH6 and probably a 490R. I guess i would be a hard pickup endorser as i always cross breed them...lol. I know "brand" wise i like Gibson,Duncan and EMG (Bare Knuckle i think is my number 1 though:D) but, i'll try anything...i'm a total gear WHORE.I caught my JB trying to walk out on me the other night for flirting with a set of EMG's and i said "bi#$h! go make me a sandwich!"....it didn't do much or say anything at all....i was like "that's what i thought!" Then the shrink gave me some thorazine.....but, really, i am a gear whore though.

Yep, me to, a gear whore that is. My LP's are my go to guitars. Honesty I dont get to the Jackson much. But when I am feeling Metal / shred, its the one.
