Picked up this bad boy today

200w custom made valve head from 1967

The name on the front plate makes me think it used to belong to Entwistle.

Im stumped as to who made it, doesn’t look like a hiwatt/soundcity.

More pics once it’s back from the tech!

Interesting amp. I’d like to hear some clips when you get it back.

I’m curious, how do you know if the price is fair being it’s 52 year old, custom made amp? What do you have to compare it to?

I’ll upload some clips once I get it back.

I’m curious as to how it sounds as well!

Yea it’s a strange one putting a value on stuff that’s rare, I find that it tends to be either really expensive or really cheap!!

I bought it as part of a job lot of speakers/ amps so it was pretty reasonable! I just picked up the first lot today and I’m getting the rest of the stuff next week, their are a few nice bits, a‘65 ac30 and a 100w early seventies Nichols head plus the usual suspects!

Side-panel bolsters on the inside are wide like late-70's and up Laney faces...

It turns out it is a Wallace!

I’ve never had one before so didn’t have anything to compare it to! They were based in Soho and did loads of stuff for British session players(Jimmy Page as well apparently)

I’ll upload some clips once it’s up and running!

Mmmmm......The Ox/Entwhistle for mine, right there amongst the top bassists...power and dexterity.
My first thoughts, that it must be 'related' in some way to the Ox range of kit that Universal Audio make - most recently, the Ox Amp Top Box, load box type stuff. The name would seem unusual to choose twice, and its pver 50yrs old...not sure how long UA have been established?
If it's def a Wallace, maybe unrelated.
    Hope it's a rip-snorter regardless! :)

He's a killer musician, theirs a Youtube video of The Who live with just the bass part and it sounds AMAZING.

I did clock the name and thought to myself this is the only way I am going to get a OX box, UA do good stuff but Id rather use a speaker cab(I do get the practicality of it however) the studio where i have all my amps/cabs is on a traffic Island so I can crank stuff without the neighbours complaining.

I had a quick look inside the amp and all the component date codes I could see were 1966, the guy did a lot of Custom amps so they are out their, I have only seen one for sale out in the wild though!

And if you arelooking for a Great Bass Amp check out a Acoustic Control Corporation 371. "370 Head and 301 Cabinet" I had 4 of them but down to 2 now because some friends of mine who are great Bass Players talked me out of 2 of them.. Very Loud and Sound Great although they are extremely heavy to haul around..
