I currently have a new early style 800 2203 under construction. Classic Tone transformers, chassis and faceplates from Triode. Turret board and some parts from Valve Storm with remaining stuff from Tube Depot. Board is all done, so just have to wire it all together now. Also got a Metropolous fx loop to install as well. Now I have to decide if I want a tolex covered box or go with a wood finish.

Dam man, that looks great! If it sounds half as good as it looks (I'm sure it will)!!!!!!!

Do you build these amps or types of amps regularly for people or is this just one for yourself?

More pics and keep us posted.

BTW, my company has one of its HQs in Shakopee. I was there 5/14 to 5/16 when you had your first great hot sunny summer day!

This is just for myself. I've been soldering since I was a kid and built a Hafler DH220 kit during college in the mid eighties.
I wanted to really customize this, so I avoided a regular kit. I am using the Metro schematic for the most part.

Very nice. Will it sound like a stock JCM 800 or will it sound modified?

I think pretty close to stock. I'm not really messing around with component values, just higher quality. Mostly going for minimum noise. Better than stock caps and resistors. Using the aerospace grade wire as well.

I got my Sourmash cab done in British green. It still looks like a classic.

Just ordered the JMP style Sourmash cab in black elephant with white piping. Also found a guy on Reverb that makes plexi 2 x 6 inch name plates. I'm having a couple made with my name on them for the amp and my custom 412a.

    Guuuuuuys

Seriously, quit it with the fake-logo'd exact-ish-looking knockoff headcabs on DIY or kit builds

That stuff screws with the secondary market

I really wish having a nameplate with MY name on it would have an effect on the secondary market. That would be special.

How so? I built this for my own personal satisfaction and enjoyment and have no intentions of selling it. I just like logos on stuff, it improves the tone in my mind!

Got a pair of these plexi badges today. 2 x 6 inches. One goes on the Sourmash head box when it arrives and the other on my 412a.
